First I would recommend to lose your weight by bringing healthy changes to your lifestyle such as clean eating, workout, walk and positive approach.

You should not follow this 7 days diet plan for more than a week. And if you want to follow it again then give at least 3 weeks gap between two rounds of this diet.

Along with this diet, you should also start some light workout and walk. It will faster the fat burning process even more.

This 7 days diet is known as GM Diet and it’s been around since 1985. It was developed by General Motors, along with United States Department of Agriculture and Food and Drug Administration for it’s employees. It was designed to make it’s workers healthier to increase the workforce productivity. Results of this diet were very impressive – a loss of 10 to 15 pounds of weight in just a weight!

The GM diet is a 7 day diet plan for weight loss mainly consists of fruits and vegetables. It can be difficult for some people to follow this diet since it relies on high fiber and less protein foods. But this diet can be used for fast paced weight loss regimens, with up to 15 pound a week.

GM Diet Day 1

GM Diet (Pakistani Version) - Day 1

Day 1: Breakfast

The first important meal of the day in this diet is breakfast. Followers may observe full breakfast consisting mainly of fruits such as papaya and melons together with 2 glasses of water. These fruits will keep your stomach full and at the same it will satisfy your sweet tooth, thus craving for tempting meals such as pasta, burgers and pizza can be avoided.

Day 1: Midday Meals and Beverages

The only beverage allowed for the day 1 is water. Followers may also take fresh coconut water and orange juice during midday snacks. Orange juice will control the sweets cravings and coconut water will keep your stomach full for the rest of the day.

Day 1: Lunch

Lunch may consist of watery fruits such as watermelons and apples. The lunch time is observed between 12:00 noon to 2:00 in the afternoon. The other fruits that you can take are kiwi and mangoes.

Day 1: Dinner

Followers may return to melons, oranges and kiwi during dinner. Melons can be heavy on stomach; hence only a half serving bowl should be consumed.

  • 1 bowl of muskmelon or watermelon
  • 1 – 2 glasses of water

Afternoon Snack (4:00 – 5:00 PM)

  • 1 orange/sweet lime/chico fruit
  • 2 glasses of water

Evening (6:00 – 6:30 PM)

1 glass of coconut water

Dinner (8:00 – 9:00 PM)

  • 1 bowl of melon
  • 2 glasses of water

GM Diet Day 2

GM Diet (Pakistani Version) - Day 1

During day 2, followers may consume mainly vegetables throughout the day.

Day 2: Breakfast

Start your second day with a large baked potato with a pat of butter, olive oil or ghee on top. This will keep your stomach heavy to keep you energized throughout the day.

If regular potato is not available in your area then you can use sweet potato, as long as there is no sugar added in your meal.

Day 2: Midday Meals and Beverages

Experts recommend leafy green such as fresh lettuce or boiled cabbage in order to maintain a light stomach. Consume a lot of water to keep your body hydrated. You can also take cherry tomatoes during the midday snacks.

Day 2: Lunch

During lunch, you should consume foods, these may involve vegetable salads with cucumber, lettuce and cabbages. You can dress salads with olive oil, vinaigrette but not mayonnaise.

Day 2: Dinner

Day 2 dinner may consist of fresh greens, such as asparagus, broccoli as well as lettuce, cabbages and cucumber.

  • 1 cup boiled potato (with olive oil, ghee, or butter)
  • 2 glasses of water

Mid-morning Snack (10:00 AM – 11:00 AM)

  • 1 bowl of red lettuce (raw) or cabbage
  • 1-2 glasses of water

Lunch (12:00 PM – 2:00 PM)

  • 1 tomato
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 – 2 glasses of water

Afternoon Snack (4:00 – 5:00 PM)

  • 2 tomatoes or 1 cup of cherry tomatoes
  • 2 glasses of water

Dinner (7:00 – 8:00 PM)

  • Boiled cauliflower, asparagus and broccoli with spices and salt

GM Diet Day 3

GM Diet (Pakistani Version) - Day 1

Day 3 is not difficult as compared to first 2 days. You can take both; fruits and vegetables on day 3.

Day 3: Breakfast

Start your day 3 with an apple, but if you are looking for heavier meal then you may consume melon. When consuming melon for breakfast, it is important to have 2 glasses of water for better digestion.

Day 3: Midday Meals and Beverages

A combination of fresh green, different fruits and fresh greens may be consumed all day. You can take fresh juice such as derived from oranges, lemon and berries would be ideal if you don’t want to drink too much water. But consume them in proportional amounts to avoid bloating.

Day 3: Lunch

You can repeat the Day 2 lunch on Day 3. For more variety you can include tomatoes in cucumber-lettuce salads.

Day 1: Dinner

Consume a serving of boiled vegetables, they can be followed up with fruits deserts such as watermelon apple.

  • 1 cup of diced melon and 2 glasses of water or 1 apple and 2 glasses of water.

GM Diet (Pakistani Version) - Day 4

Fourth day is filled with surprises. Unlike the first three days where you are only allowed to take fruits and vegetables, day 4 offer 3 meals: Milk, banana and soup.

Day 4: Breakfast

Start Day 4 by consuming a banana or two with a glass of milk (Coconut milk or almond milk).

Day 4: Midday Meals and Beverages

During day 4, the only allowed snacks are bananas and milk. They can be served as cold banana shake.

Day 4: Lunch

Consume a bowl of vegetables soup during the lunch. The best soup that can be served include cabbage stew and tomato soup, they are packed with natural flavors.

Day 4: Dinner

Consume a serving of vegetable soup with a banana shake. Although, this can be quite heavy, so followers may take only soup, as this alone will keep them full until the next morning.

On 5th day of this diet plan for weight loss, followers are now allowed to eat beef with tomatoes.

Day 5: Breakfast

Start your breakfast with braised beef and soup. This will keep your stomach heavy and full for the day. It can be a bit boring to eat beef but you can pair it with a slice of tomato.

Day 5: Midday Meals and Beverages

During day 5, the only beverage allowed is water, and not juice. The reason is because the body has already been given juice dose for the past 3 days. But drink up to 14 glasses of water on day 5 to detoxify the body system and remove unnecessary nutrients provided by the meat.

Day 5: Lunch

Consume a bowl of cooked brown rice or chicken breast/fish with two tomatoes and two glasses of water.

Day 5: Dinner

Consume a bowl of beef soup with tomatoes, it will make you feel more energized

GM Diet (Pakistani Version) - Day 6

If you have successfully followed the first 5 days of this GM diet then you are almost done with this 7 days diet. On 6th day, the foods to consume include beef, brown rice and vegetables as well.

Day 6: Breakfast

You can start your breakfast with a bowl of mixed vegetables. These vegetables may be stewed or sauteed, so that they would have more taste and tender bite.

It is recommended to take a bowl of vegetable soup with beef cutlets, this will keep your stomach satiated throughout the day.

Day 6: Midday Meals and Beverages

You can consume vegetables and beef as snacks during the midday. Although it is recommended to munch the greens and then beef during the lunch.

Day 6: Lunch

During lunchtime, any form of beef and mixed vegetables may be eaten. A bowl of broccoli and beef may sound ideal for western diet followers, but do not include potatoes and bread.

Day 6: Dinner

Consume vegetable soup and a hamburger (ONLY MEAT! NO BREAD).

Day 7 is the last day of this diet plan for weight loss. If you have made it so far then you would have seen weight loss and feeling light.

Day 7: Breakfast

Consume a bowl of white or brown rice during the breakfast. It is recommended to consume rice in the morning because it will provide the energy for the rest of the day. If you want to save the rice for lunch then eat a slice of melon or papaya followed by 1-2 glasses of water.

Day 7: Midday Meals and Beverages

Consume fruits mainly berries in midday.

Day 7: Lunch

Consume a bowl of cooked brown or white matched with cooked vegetables such as broccoli cabbage and asparagus. This can be a bit boring meal so it can be followed with a slice of watermelon or mango to keep the appetite satisfied.

Day 7: Dinner

Day 7 ends with another bowl of brown/white rice and greens. However most of the followers prefer to only have vegetables to avoid bloating at night. Rice can be heavy for dinner, so increase fluid intake should be observed.
